Lucy says thank you

Laying on the cool floor outside the kitchen, (where else!) Lucy feels a little better today, but sill has to see the doctor later again for more dreaded injections.
She sends a big thank you to all her new friends and well-wishers.
She is just not yet in the mood to pose for any portrait photos.

  2. I just read of the heart infection - and had never heard of any such thing. Is she nearly out if the woods with this?

  3. Hi Life with dogs... re Lucy... she is on medication because she has a failing heart, also has arthritis, and a deformed leg which gives her pain.. probably she was involved in a collision with a vehicle in the past. So pain killers and cortizone... also has some sort of uterous tunour... so to be honnest, she is realy in her twilight times, so every day we can cuddle her is good. Technically she could leave us within hours, days, weeks - we are continuing to keep her pain at bay and loving her each day. She is a real fighter and we stil have hope for her. So far today her temperature is borderline... she is eating well and is cheerful. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. It will be back to her Vet' within the hour for him to check on her heart and give her the daily injection she requires. Lucy would not survive an operation because her heart is not strong enough, so we avoid one.

  5. To be absolutely honnest with you (Life with dogs) it would break my heart if we lose Lucy soon... Cristina, my wife will be even more heart-broken. She lost her mother recently, so we could both do without more grief. Cristina has a special relationship with Lucy, it was she that instigated adopting her - she just fell in love with Lucy when we were first introduced. Lucy had been living on the streets, flooded streets of Portugal at the time... having to swim hundreds of feet to dry land to find food. She must have been abandoned by her previous owners. She was rescued by the ASPA here which is where we learnt of her plight. So we adopted her just over a year ago. I told Cristina that we really did not have room for a second dog - but hey - I 'fell for her also'... she is 'daddies girl' and she knows I give her plenty of little treats! I will be annoyed with her if she decides to leave us! I will not allow it - she is our 4paws4always. She brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.

  6. Just taken Lucy to the car, Cristina is taking her to the Vet... Lucy sitting on the front seat looking out of the window. I did not go with her this time as I can't bear to hear her little whimps when she gets her injections. Call me weak if you like, but it hurts me to see Lucy suffer - even just from an injection. You all must all know what that is like - to see the eyes of your dog look at you when getting a needle pushed into them, as if to say "HELP ME"... AND GIVE OUT A YELP... But it must be done... Lucy wil be back here within 45 mins or so and no doubt energised and wanting more treats!
